Dr. Ahmad Essa El Masarawi is a globally renowned scholar in Quranic studies and the former Grand Sheikh of Quraa in Egypt. He also served as the president of the board responsible for approving printed and audio copies of the Quran. Born on March 1, 1953, in Dindit, Egypt, Dr. El Masarawi memorized the entire Quran by age 11 under Sheikh Abdul Hamid Hajjaj.

He pursued higher education at Al Azhar University, where he earned degrees in Qiraa-aat and Hadith, including a PhD in Hadith in 1992. Dr. El Masarawi began teaching at Al Azhar Institute in 1976 and was later promoted to professor at Al Azhar University. He holds Sanad and Ijazah in the ten Qiraa-aat through Shaatibiyyah and Durrah, and the ten major Qiraa-aat through Tayyibah, studying under notable scholars like Sheikh Abdul Hakim Abdul Lateef.

As the honorary president and professor at the International Islamic University of Minnesota, Dr. El Masarawi continues to guide Quranic education worldwide. He is a prominent judge in international Quran competitions and has authored numerous works on Islamic sciences, with a major focus on the variations of the ten Quraa.
