Sheikh Abdur Rahman (Hans) Nelson is a Wisconsin native with a deep commitment to Islamic education. He holds a Bachelor's degree in History from the University of Wisconsin–Madison and a second Bachelor's degree in Shariah from Umm al-Qura University, Saudi Arabia, where he is also a Master's candidate specializing in Usul al-Fiqh.

With over five years of teaching experience, Sheikh Hans has taught Islamic studies curricula in various institutions, including Al-Huda School in College Park, MD. His expertise spans Quranic teaching, translation, and ESL instruction. He founded a full-time Quran memorization institute in Makkah and has worked in educational institutions worldwide.

Sheikh Hans brings a wealth of experience in organization, communication, and the integration of technology in education. His courses include ISEC113: History of Islamic Jurisprudence, ISEC502: Principles of Islamic Jurisprudence, and ISEF500: Comparative Fiqh, where he guides students through complex Islamic legal concepts with clarity and depth.
